Early detection and treatment for PCOD and PCOS

PCOD

Polycystic ovary disease affects women aged 15-49 years; it causes irregular menses (menstrual) cycles, and the main cause is cysts in the ovaries. It affects individuals with hormonal imbalance in reproductive organs and causes insulin resistance. Symptoms are irregular periods, weight gain and acne all over the face. In some cases, hair all over the body grows excessively and hair gets thinner. PCOD can be easily identified with ultrasound, as you can see cysts on the ovaries. Treatment mainly involves correcting the hormone level in the reproductive system over time. PCOD can affect fertility if not detected and treated in an earlier stage.

PCOS

Polycystic ovary syndrome also affects women of 15-49 years of age. Reproductive hormones are imbalanced, leading to irregular menstrual cycles and ovulation. PCOS results in multiple cysts on the ovaries which are detected with the help of ultrasound. The most common symptom for PCOS is a missed period. There is a risk of developing diabetes for women affected by PCOS. Insulin sensitizing medication is used to treat PCOS in an early stage.
